Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Behavioral Health - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 07/14/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Behavioral Health RN – Adolescent Inpatient Unit Location: 2001 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA 94704 Schedule: Day Shift, 5x8-Hour Shifts (07:00–15:30) Block Scheduling: Not available Weekends: Every Other Weekend (EOW) required Float Required: Yes (within scope and based on unit needs) Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized inpatient unit serving adolescents with acute psychiatric and behavioral conditions. The RN will provide comprehensive, compassionate care using crisis intervention, de-escalation, and therapeutic communication techniques. Candidates must have prior adolescent psych experience and the ability to manage a dynamic, fast-paced care environment. Key Responsibilities - Act as the primary nurse responsible for the full scope of care from admission to discharge - Provide age-appropriate psychiatric nursing care to adolescents with behavioral and mental health disorders - Utilize therapeutic interventions such as behavioral management, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation - Administer and monitor psychotropic medications, including mood stabilizers, antipsychotics, sedatives, and antidepressants - Apply de-escalation and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) techniques to manage assaultive behavior and ensure safety - Accurately document patient information in Epic - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including social workers, therapists, physicians, and support staff - Float to other behavioral health units as needed within scope Required Certifications - CA RN License – Required - BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required - CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) – Required Minimum Qualifications - 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience - Experience with adolescent psychiatric populations – Must be clearly reflected in work history - 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio experience - Proficient in Epic charting system Patient Population - Age Group: Adolescents - Unit Capacity: 16 beds - Daily Census: ~11 patients Common Diagnoses - Depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia - PTSD, personality disorders, anxiety, eating disorders - Substance use disorders, trauma-related disorders - Suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, profound impulse control issues HCRR - MD About LanceSoft Established in 2000, LanceSoft is a Certified MBE and Woman-Owned organization.
