- - - - Non-Exempt Job Summary: - Large power utility company
operating biomass power plant in Woodland CA has opportunity
available for Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician
reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. - Responsible for following
activities: maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all
mechanical equipment at this wood fired biomass power plant. This
is a nonexempt, hourly position with about 300-hours OT usually
during spring and fall outages. - Essential Duties and
Responsibilities
- Job tasks will range from routine maintenance to complex
mechanical troubleshooting and use of precision measurement
tools.
- Performs repair and maintenance work following blueprint
sketches and procedures involving such tasks as drilling, tapping,
fabricating, welding, machinery alignment and quality control.
- Identifies mechanical design, machinery improvements or
problems and recommends modifications necessary for
resolution.
- Maintains various mechanical equipment associated with biomass
and gas fired boilers, steam turbines, electrical generators,
compressors, water treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and other
auxiliary equipment. Job Requirements:
- Maintains various mechanical equipment associated with biomass

compressors, water treatment equipment, pumps, valves, and other
auxiliary equipment.
- Uses maintenance reporting system to record time and material
use, problems identified and corrected, and further actions
required; provide complete history of maintenance on
equipment.
- Identifies mechanical design, machinery improvements or
problems and recommends modifications necessary for
resolution.
- Follows safety/environmental rules and regulations. Implements
safe working practices and immediately identities hazards and
recommends and/or implements repairs.
- Ability to work weekend, holidays and rotating shifts as
required
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in a team
environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and coordinate work with
others on technical subjects across job families.
- May be called to respond for emergency call-ins and overtime
plus provide acceptable off-hours contact by phone. Physical
Requirements:
- Physical demands-the physical demands of the job, including
bending, sitting, lifting, and driving.
- To properly perform the integral functions of this job, the
employee is frequently required to: stand, walk, stoop, kneel or
sit. It is crucial to the outcome of job tasks that the employee
can talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach
with hands and arms extensively.
- Must be able to enter and work in confined space areas,
including boilers, condensers, tanks, etc. to evaluate equipment
condition or inspect work efforts by assigned resources.
- Will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds
in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift or move
objects of up to 40 pounds in weight. In addition, the employee
will occasionally push or pull up to 70 pounds in weight.
- Vision requirements for this position include close vision,
color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or
other factors that will affect the person's working conditions
while performing the job. Education / Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Ability to read, write and speak English and perform basic
mathematical computations.
- Experience with mobile heavy equipment, loaders, trucks, and
welding is a plus. - Additional training will be offered
- Four (4) years' experience as a mechanic/machinist, preferably
in a biomass fired steam turbine power plant environment Our client
