Group has an excellent opportunity for an Instrument, Controls and
Electrical (IC&E) Technician supporting a biomass power plant
owned by a large power utility company who operates power plants
across the United States. - The IC&E Technician will be located
in Woodland, CA and will report to the Maintenance Manager. - The
IC&E Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining,
testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, controls, and
electrical / electronic systems at the biomass power generation
plant. - The position requires proven experience with
instrumentation, controls, low, medium, and high voltage
switchgear, transformers, generators, protective relays, and motor
control centers. This is an hourly position with a sign on bonus
and excellent benefits. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Calibrates, tests, maintains, troubleshoots, and installs all
power plant instrumentation, control systems and electrical
equipment.
- Performs maintenance on motor control centers, motor operated
valves, generators, excitation equipment and motors.
- Performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on
equipment, coordinating work with various team members.
- Troubleshoots and performs maintenance on DC backup power
equipment, process controls, programmable logic controls (PLC) and
emission monitoring equipment.
- Work with other team members in support of all equipment to
maintain the generating capacity. Requires reporting of problems,
troubleshooting, monitoring, and repairing of electrical and
control systems as required.
- Uses maintenance reporting system to record time and material
use, problem identified and corrected, and further action required;
provides complete history of maintenance on equipment.

- Schedule, coordinate, work with and monitors contractors on
specific tasks as required.
- Perform equipment safety inspections as required and record
results as appropriate. Job Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics,
schematics, and controls and instrumentation
- Demonstrated ability to configure and operate various test
instruments and equipment to troubleshoot and repair plant
equipment including PLCs, motor control centers, transformers,
generators
- Ability to work independently and with others in a team
environment
- Available within a reasonable response time for emergency
call-ins and overtime plus provide acceptable off-hour contact by
phone.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as
required
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English,
with good math skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical equipment, electronics,
schematics, basics of chemistry and physics, and controls and
instrumentation.
- Demonstrated ability to calibrate I&C systems and
equipment, including analytic equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to configure and operate various test
instruments and equipment as necessary to troubleshoot and repair
plant equipment including, but not limited to; programmable logic
controllers, motor control centers, transformers, generators, and
continuous emissions monitor (CEM) systems. Physical Requirements:
- Physical demands-the physical demands of the job, including
bending, sitting, lifting, and driving.
- To properly perform the integral functions of this job, the
employee is frequently required to: stand, walk, stoop, kneel or
sit. It is crucial to the outcome of job tasks that the employee
can talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach
with hands and arms extensively.
- Must be able to enter and work in confined space areas,
including boilers, condensers, tanks, etc. to evaluate equipment
condition or inspect work efforts by assigned resources.
- Will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds
in weight. Occasionally the employee will have to lift or move
objects of up to 40 pounds in weight. In addition, the employee
will occasionally push or pull up to 70 pounds in weight.
- Vision requirements for this position include close vision,
color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment: temperature, noise level, inside or outside, or
other factors that will affect the person's working conditions
while performing the job. Education / Experience:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Four (4) years of experience as an IC&E Technician and/or
Electrician in a power plant environment
- Journeyman Level Certification is a plus and/or other
