Position description
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatrics,
Hospice, and Palliative Medicine at the University of California,
Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for full- or part-time
faculty members in the Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series at
the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in Palliative Medicine.
Faculty in the HSCP series are expected to engage in teaching,
demonstrate professional competence and activity, scholarly or
creative work, and University and public service.
The faculty member will be expected to provide:
* Provide 42 weeks of service divided between UCD Hospice &
Palliative Care Consult Services (Monday through Friday)
* Roles include both outpatient and inpatient hospice
components
* Duties include coverage of Interdisciplinary team meetings which
occur twice a week
* Home visits as needed or required by Medicare regulations
* Participate in QI program for UCD hospice
* Expected to help cover 6-8 Saturdays per year on the adult
inpatient care consult service
* This includes seeing new consults and any urgent follow ups with
patients that are currently being followed by inpatient hospice or
palliative care
* Participate in 24/7 physician call responsibilities for UCD
Hospice Program- this call includes both inpatient and outpatient
components. This will be between 15-18 weeks a year
* Participate in the didactic and education of palliative care
fellowship program
* Participation in hospital wide PC initiative and hospice program
initiative.
* Possibly assuming the role of Palliative Care Fellowship Program
Director in near future

* Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of
California
* Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
